Education Level:

Four (4) year degree from an accredited university or college and four (4) years of experience in the UAS industry.

 

Role Description:

This is a full-time on-site role for a Field Operations Manager at Whiteout Solutions in St. Johnsbury, VT. The Field Operations Manager will be responsible for overseeing the field services team, managing data acquisition and analysis processes, and developing custom deliverables. This role involves coordinating with clients and internal teams to ensure project success.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Field Operations Management: Own and manage all aspects of field operations, including planning, resource coordination, site access, flight plans, regulatory compliance, safety meetings, UAS operations, and post-flight reporting.
  • Data Management: Oversee data collection, ensure data integrity, implement quality control, and validate that all data meets or exceeds client expectations.
  • Team Leadership: Lead, mentor, and train junior UAS operators; coordinate multidisciplinary teams for mission planning.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Stay updated on UAS regulations, enforce safety standards, conduct risk assessments, and ensure compliance with FAA and international standards.
  • Equipment Management: Oversee UAS equipment maintenance and repairs, troubleshoot issues, manage inventory, and evaluate new technologies.
  • Process Improvement: Observe operations, recommend improvements, and document all field activities. Ensure project alignment with internal teams and stakeholders.
  • Data Processing: Conduct data processing, analysis, and QA when not in the field.

Qualifications:

  • Valid UAS operator license or certification (e.g., FAA Part 107).
  • Experience with commercial UAS operations and piloting various UAS types.
  • Ability to obtain a Class 3 medical certificate (FAA requirement).
  • Strong project management and leadership skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Deep understanding of UAS technology and aviation regulations.
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, aviation, GIS, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Minimum 5 years of UAS operation experience with increasing responsibility.
  • Ability to work in diverse environments, including remote and challenging locations.
  • Physical fitness required for handling and transporting equipment (ability to lift over 60 pounds).

Work Conditions:

  • Significant time spent outdoors in various environments.
  • Irregular work hours, including early mornings, late evenings, and weekends.
